The Goods: The Lock Jaw was designed to eliminate helmet slop that is a common problem on full-face helmets. The Lock Jaw is made from thermal plastic and snaps onto any full-face helmet. For added comfort the Lock Jaw has a vent conveniently located towards the front of the chin, where most of the sweat builds up. The entire surface that comes in contact with your head is lined with terry cloth that provides a soft surface for your chin to rest on.
The Verdict: Overall the Lock Jaw is very comfortable and did eliminate any helmet slop that my Moose Helmet had. I couldn’t take the Lock Jaw to the next level of testing, in that it is also an added safety device. I didn’t want to break any of my other body parts, but I do have a story from a customer of Lock Jaw. My little Cousin Garrett crashed at a race in Mustang. He did break his jaw on both sides including his growing plates, but when my uncle Joe took his helmet to the doctors the doctor said, “with out the lock jaw he would have shattered his jaw, cheek bone, and his nose. For racers this product is something that could save your face, for the non-racer it’s a product I would keep an eye on in a year or two as it could be a common feature on many helmets
Hits: Quick Installation, very comfortable, and can possibly save your face from extensive damage.
Misses: The installation requires drilling into the helmet and has a possibility of damaging the integrity of the helmet it is installed too.
