Pro rider Pat Brown is one of the young up-and-comers that is quickly making a name for himself on the race scene. Pat started his Pro career with a Yamaha support ride, which has now evolved into a full-factory deal. This year Pat will be contending the GNC series aboard his factory-prepped YFZ450 and will also be racing select WPSA events.

QUAD: What was the first quad you ever owned?

Brown: My first quad was the Kawasaki Mojave, but the first quad I raced was the Yamaha Raptor 660. It was a great quad at the time.

QUAD: What’s the hardest thing about being a pro rider that the average person might not understand?

Brown: The hardest thing people don’t realize is that it’s a lot of work. Most people think you can just go out there and ride. I have a cardiovascular workout twice a day, not to mention I try to ride daily as well. Racing takes a lot physically and mentally, but the win at the end of the day is worth it.

QUAD: How did you first get involved with Team Yamaha?

Brown: At the time I was racing a Yamaha, and I was doing really well. Yamaha gave me a support ride, and it took off from there.

QUAD: What are your goals for ‘07?

Brown: The Championship, but that’s everyone’s goal. Right now my goals are to win. I want to be a strong contender no matter which series, I want to focus on one race at a time and win.

QUAD: You have a new mechanic—Paul Turner. Is he really as crazy as people say he is?

Brown: Absolutely! He is a very dedicated mechanic, and knows his stuff. He can be a wild man at times, but he gets his work done.
