This week we stopped by JD Performance for a quick chat. Dave prides himself on low prices and excellent customer service. JD Performance is a one-stop shop for all your suspension needs.
QUAD: How did JD Performance get started?
Dave: I started out welding Honda 250R Chassis at Laegers in 1992. In 2002 I decided I wanted to build my own stuff. My goal when I started was to have low prices, a quality product, and top-notch customer service. To this day, I do all of the welding.
QUAD: What is your latest product?
Dave: I am currently in the final stages of production on the Kawasaki KFX450R control arms. It has been a difficult product to design because of the KFX’s unique frame design. The cost is going to be a little higher then my other products because the unique design requires some additional hardware.
QUAD: Since you started has there been a single product that people know you for?
Dave: I have always had a large following from Honda owners. So I would say Honda control arms, are my top selling product.
QUAD: What is your favorite thing about the industry?
Dave: I really like working with the kids, and giving them the knowledge that I have. A lot of companies out there just don’t take the time. My goal has been to get people what they need not what they think they need. I may talk myself out of a sale, but in the end it’s all about the customer.
QUAD: What is next for JD Performance?
Dave: Nothing with me is set in stone. The more calls I get asking for something, I am more likely to build it. One thing I still make, because there is a demand is Honda 250R control arms. Right now my focus is on the KFX450R and who knows what will be next.
