QUAD: John how did Golden West Cycle get started?
John: It started back in 1991. We started with just a small 1/4 page black and white ad selling mainly off-road apparel. Now it has grown as large as eight page color ads in some magazines, and an online store. We moved from selling mainly apparel to everything ATV related.
QUAD: What is your best selling product?
John: It would have to be our GWC Stabilizer by far! We are selling more and more each week. It is a great product for the price and makes a noticeable difference when riding.
QUAD: How is Golden West Cycle involved in ATV Racing?
John: We have been involved in ATV racing since we opened the doors. We have sponsored riders in all types of racing from desert, to cross country, to motocross. We’ve sponsored riders Travis Spader, Doug Eichner, Chad Duvall, Matt Smiley, Tavis Cain, Jeremy Schell, and Josh Fredericks. Pat Brown, Chris Tait, Darrel Patton, Dustin Terry, and T.J Dietrich head up our current Yamaha support team. We also helped develop and win the Baja 1000 with Honda on the TRX450R in its first race. We have won multiple championships including SCORE, Best in the Desert, ATVA MX, Quadcross and more. I believe in supporting the sport and racing what we sell!
QUAD: What is new at Golden West Cycle?
John: We have been spending a lot of time on the new side-by-side units, mainly the Rhino. We’re trying to get better handling and more power without taking the fun factor out of it! We think we got it.
QUAD: We like to ask everyone, what is your favorite thing about the industry?
John: The people! This is a small industry, and everyone knows each other in one way or another. I have met and worked with a lot of good people. I love ATV’s! I have either raced them or sold parts for them since I was 16.
