We caught up with factory Can-Am rider Cody Miller to get the scoop on his plans for the upcoming GNC motocross season in this week’s, Friday 5!
QUAD: What’s New with you? Anything wild going down at the Miller compound?
Miller: The miller compound now has a 4 min lap time and we have been doing a bunch of 7 to 8 lap motos! Its killer.. we also spend a lot of time driving 4×4 trucks and hanging out at the local lake - and of course, working out.
QUAD: Rumor has it that your brother will be riding Can-Am this year as well, but only on the west coast?
Miller: Yes my brother (Hunter) just flew out on the 5th on January to go ride his 1st “best in the desert” race for the Epic Can-Am team on the west coast. He will also be racing the ITP Quadcross, and WORCS series!
QUAD: So what’s the official team for factory Can-Am? Any drastic changes?
Miller: I would say the main Can-Am team is the Warnert Racing team, however the Epic and Motoworks teams are just as serious about winning for Can-Am as we are. The major changes that I know of are the Epic team going west coast racing and the Motoworks team are going east coast.
QUAD: Steel City; what happened and have you recovered 100% from that injury?
Miller: At the steel city invitational race I had a mechanical malfunction in the first moto race, so I had a DNF. However there was an amateur national the next day that Sage Baker, Thomas Brown, Hunter Miller and I raced our dirt bikes in. During the 1st moto of my dirt bike race, I went over the bars on a big step up jump. I stuck my arm out to catch myself and it bent backwards at the elbow, causing it to dislocate and brake in a few places. Since then I have made a full recovery and have polished up my dirt biking skills, so hopefully I won’t make the same mistake again.
QUAD: Have you guys done any more extensive work to make the DS450 a top contender this year?
Miller: Yes the DS450 will be a top contender in 2009! The team brought in Walsh Race Craft on-board this year and they have made some major changes to the bike. Also Rage ATV has found loads more HP out of the ROTAX 450 engine. So expect John Natalie and I to do quite well on the new DS450.
QUAD: Thanks for your time and good luck this year!
Miller: Thank You!
