Tip of the Day: Fresh Brakes

If you haven’t changed your quad’s brake fluid lately, it’s time to bleed those brakes. If your ATV has mechanical drum brakes, don’t worry about it, but disc brake fluid collects moisture from condensation and should be changed once a year. Most manufacturers suggest a minimum of DOT 4 fluid and we suggest something of the high-temperature variety, such as Motul RBF 600. High-temperature fluid is worth adding because it provides the most consistent braking feel.

Before adding new fluid, make sure you flush all of the old stuff out of the system. Check your quad’s repair manual (you should own one) for specific instructions. If you feel overwhelmed, take it to a professional…because brakes are nothing to toy around with. You need them!
