QUAD: So Pat, what’s happening? What’s new with you?

PB: Same old off season routine. I need to increase my minutes on my cell phone plan every off season to deal with the phone calls. New is this YFZ450R - I am just stoked about it! The thing is the race bike I have been waiting for!

QUAD: How are you preparing for the 09 season? Anything different from last year?

PB: Training hard, that’s no different from last year. I will be doing more riding this off season than last. I have a new machine to get accustomed to.

QUAD: What are your goals for 09? Do you think the new YFZ450R has what it takes to podium?

PB: I know it’s a podium capable machine. I can’t wait to get out there and prove that. My goals are as high as they can be. I believe in my abilities and my team is stepping up this year. Things are tight this year with the economy, but we are going to charge through it. I am excited about my new YFZR package!

QUAD: How is the new YFZR, have you done much testing?

PB: I have done some pretty good testing so far. It didn’t take much seat time to see the potential of this race inspired machine. The YFZ worked very well, but the YFZ450R just improves on every aspect. Handling would have to be the biggest thing I notice. I can throw this thing into a turn so hard, and the front end always drives through. The center of gravity is so low that the bike is hard to two wheel. I keep learning more and more about it each ride. Mainly I can hit turns harder and faster then I ever imagined.

QUAD: Having come off your supercross win in Montreal, do you feel like you can take that momentum and be a top 10 contender for 2009?

PB: My focus will be winning a Championship this year. I know a tenth place rider last year probably isn’t the top pick for 2009 champ. That’s all right; hopefully I can earn my way back up that ladder. This new bike, and my team behind me, Yamaha, Golden West, Paul Turner and of coarse my family, will push me to where I need to be this year. I would also like to thank anyone still rooting for me, it means so much to have fans behind you. Thanks!
