Hurricane. Ut- 6/12/09:
DATS Racing sent a skeleton crew to Toutle, Wa, this past weekend, actually only Johnny Shafe and Garrett Stucki made the trip. Previous Snow family plans and the late race date move from WORCS made it impossible to go, so Shafe represented the Kawasaki green machine from Utah in the Pro class. Shafe had a terrific race going with a second on the hole shot and then ended up getting bumped off of the track on the second jump losing three spots. He maintained the fifth spot for most of the race until the rubber intake boot pulled away from the airbox and the engine expired. We are running into issues this year that we never experienced over the last two years.
“Johnny has been giving his all for the DATS Racing team and he along with our crew was looking for his best finish of the year. We are going to continue to work hard to get Johhny into the top five and at a minimum the top ten for year end. These two months off will be great to analyze and make the necessary changes to come out swinging for the second half of the WORCS ATV series.” Darin Snow of DATS
Pro-Am rider and DATS crew member, Garrett Stucki rode well before succuming to problems, as well in the two-hour monster event. Stucki who was slammed into a tree from behind by an over aggressive blue plate after he got passed by a red plate. The incident injured his knee and hopefully he will be back up and running for the next round in two months at Straddleline.
Round 6 will see the return of DATS Pro rider, Robbie Mitchell returning from his shoulder injury.
