Off For Transport

If you stack your quad for transport or any other reason, the fuel in your float bowl will run back out through the bottom of your air filter, washing your much-needed, dust-catching filter oil away. A filter with dry spots will let dirt particles through, causing premature engine wear. To prevent this, you should either remove the air filter before stacking your machine, turnoff the fuel and drain the float bowl, or run it dry.

Should this be done even if you are just going on a 4 hour trip?

YES, I STACKED MY QUAD INSIDE A STORAGE UNIT OVER NIGHT, ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THE FUEL SHUT OFF WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE FUEL RAN OUT AND RINSED ALL THE AIR FILTER OIL FROM THE FILTER, ON THE BOTTOM SIDE. EVEN IF EVERYTHING IS WORKING PROPERLY, DONT RISK RUNNING AIR THROUGH AN UNOILED FILTER. YOUR TAKING A BIG CHANCE LEAVING THE FILTER ON WHEN YOU STACK YOUR BIKE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU DONT CHECK YOUR FILTER—EVERY!!!TIME YOU RIDE. WHICH IVE BEEN GUILTY OF. THIS IS GOOD ADVISE, BUT MAKE SURE THAT YOU COVER THE CARB OPENING WITH SOMETHING BREATHEABLE, LIKE AN OLD T SHIRT.
