The Goods: Thor has designed the ultimate upper body protection. It has incorporated soft and hard protective panels that move with your body as you ride. The hard panels cover the chest, shoulder, and spine. Every piece of this suit was designed to keep you cool so all the materials are vented. The chassis itself is constructed of a micro-mesh material to provide impressive comfort.

The Verdict: I’m a big guy, so at first I was concerned that the largest size Thor carries wouldn’t be big enough (Size: XL). However, when I zipped it on, I was surprised to find the material stretched and it fit quite well. Now I must say it wasn’t an easy fit, so if you are unsure try it on first. Within the first few minutes of riding I had almost forgot I was wearing the Impact Rig. That was until I went off a jump and slammed my chest into the handlebars. Then I was happy I was wearing it, or I would have spent the rest of the day icing my ribs. One thing I had problems with was the rear zipper locking into place. It would come loose and the spine protector would need to be re-zipped. Putting the zippers in the opposite direction, or simply getting higher quality-locking zippers could easily solve this. Wearing the Impact Rig in a crash could easily save you from many injuries. I can think of countless times where this would have prevented one of my injuries.

Pros: Saving your self from injury, comfort level, and who doesn’t love body armor!

Cons: The rear zipper can be a pain and it is another piece of gear to wear.
